Frog on a bike ceilidh band

Frequently Asked Questions

What do the band need for the gig?

For private functions, Frog on a Bike will need the following.

- We provide all our own PAT tested and insured PA equipment, so all you need is a minimum of one 13 amp mains power socket.

- Enough 'Stage' area for 5 musicans plus caller. We recomend an area of about 16ft wide and 12ft deep. We can, and frequently do, work with a smaller area in width, but we need enough room for a drumkit and several other instruments. So 12ft x 12ft would be an ideal minimum 'stage' area.

- Parking for a long wheelbase Transit Van and at least one other vehicle near the venue is usefull for swift set up and break down of all the band's equipment.

- If food could be provided for the band, this would be much appriciated. We often have to travel a fair distence to a venue, so there isn't always time to get food before or after the gig.

- Frog on a Bike has it's own public liabilty insurance through the English Folk Dance and Song Society. A copy of our certificate can be provided on request.

When do Frog on a Bike arrive and how long do you play for?

- We generally arrive about 1hr before the start of the gig. This gives us enough time to set up and sound check before the fun begins!

- The length of the ceilidh itself is really up to you, but we generaly recomend 2-3 hours of dancing with a break in the middle. Of course, it's your ceilidh, so we are more than happy to fit in around your plans for the event.

How much does Frog on a Bike charge?

Our fee is dependant on the type of event, time and distance to the venue from our central location of Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. We always try to be as resonable as possible with all gig requests, so please feel free to contact us now for a no obligation qoute.

Do you do requests?

As most of our music is traditional and centred around the dances you will be dancing, we don't really do music requests (unless, of course, you want a particular favourite set that you've heard on our album).

However, if you are a seasoned ceilidh dancer and there are any particular dances you would like to do, be it Scottish, Irish or English, let us know in advance and we shall try to work them in to the dance list.

We also sing, so if there are any songs you would like to hear that have appeard on our most recent album, or another traditional folk song, then please also let us know in advance so we can be in good voice for you.

Can we see you live before we book you?

Most of our gigs are private functions, but we do a number of public gigs each year, including top festivals. Keep an eye on our gig page to see where we are next or you can find us on Youtube. You can also listen to and purchase our album from Bandcamp.

A request from us!

We would love you to take lots of pictures and videos of us, but if you do put them online, please credit and link back to the band.

Thank you!
